Is it possible to love everything about Autumn? Because I think I might. I love the coziness, the warmth, the changing colors. I love buying a new scented candle and always having an excuse to bake a pie. Switching up our decor for fall is another favorite of mine. Today I want to share some photos of our fall front porch and living room, and give a few tips for how you can cozy up your home for the season!
Let’s start with the porch. It’s safe to say I went a little mum crazy this year. But can you ever have too many mums and pumpkins? I don’t think so 🙂
Painting the front door has been on my todo list basically since we first saw this house. I went back and forth on color choices for months, but I finally landed on Sherwin Williams Naval.
We have a storm door, so we keep our front door open most days, and I love the pop of color this adds to our living room! For a touch of fall decor, I added this simple wreath, previously used for a tablescape.
One of the easiest ways to cozy up your home is to add layers and texture! I scored this West Elm throw for only $8 during their Friends and Family Sale (insert happy dance).
I’m a big believer that decorating shouldn’t be stressful or difficult. It should be a simple and fun expression of your style and personality! That’s why I don’t think seasonal decorating should involve a total overhaul of your home’s decor. I like to keep things interesting by mixing in fall decor with pieces that I display year round, as well as keeping a good mix of old and new items.
This bust has been on top my family’s piano for over forty years. Whenever my parents gave me the piano back in the summer, I knew this little green man was part of the deal. I love that it adds history and quirkiness to this area of the living room.
I was lucky enough to win an Instagram giveaway a couple of weeks ago from two of my favorite local bloggers. This canvas is from Kayla Weber Art and many of the pumpkins and mums on my front porch were from Springhouse Gardens. An equestrian art piece, the baskets used as planters on the front porch, and a vintage jug, and lantern were all part of the giveaway as well. Emily, from Miss Molly Vintage, brought all of these goodies to my house and styled them. I love how they look in my home 🙂
My last simple tip would be to think of ways you can display the things you love. For me, I’m a huge book lover. It would be difficult to find a surface in our home that doesn’t have a book on it. Below, you’ll see how I displayed a few of my favorite books in a vintage wire basket. I filled the basket with a few scented pine cones and acorns for a small touch of fall decor.
When I look through these pictures, it’s easy for my mind to focus on everything that’s not yet done. I could easily make a todo list a mile long…paint the porch swing, buy or make seasonal pillow cases, figure out window treatments for goodness sake. But I’m learning that it’s okay for your home to be a work in progress! Today I’m choosing to embrace the in-between stages, and to make them as cozy as possible.
