If you know me, you know that one of my very favorite things to do is to open up my home for people. My husband and I were blessed last year with the ability to buy a cute little home in one of our favorite neighborhoods in Lexington, and nearly all my favorite memories from the past year involve opening our doors and inviting people in. Whenever I started brainstorming the possibilities for a Bridal Shower for my best friend Rachel, it seemed like a no brainer to host it in our home. The shower took place on a rainy Saturday in April, forcing us to be creative and make the most of the space we had.
Caitlyn, one of my best friends and fellow bridesmaids, was my co-host for the day. We opted for an earlier time for the shower, allowing us to have so much fun planning a brunch menu. I tend to get pretty excited about breakfast food, so Caitlyn had to reel me in and help trim the menu to save me from spending the whole morning in the kitchen. (Every dreamer needs a realist best friend, right?) Even after the trimming, I think we had a pretty nice spread!
One of the things I love most about Rachel is her free, fun-loving spirit. I knew that she had been tossing around the idea of wearing a flower crown during her reception, so I thought a DIY flower crown station would be an awesome activity to start off with. Meagan Cooley, of Meadow House Floral Design, helped make my flower dreams come true. She transformed our little guest room into a dreamy space filled with blooms, and taught us all a thing or two about floral design.
My mom, who has known Rachel for most of her life, helped put together the cutest little favors featuring Strawberry Chapstick and Goat Milk Soap Bars from Rock Bottom Soap Company out of London, KY. I was also very thankful that Rachel’s new last name will start with a W: it makes it much easier to decorate when you already happen to have that letter all over your home! Overall, it was the sweetest day to shower our friend with love. It is so easy to celebrate a good friend like Rachel!
